Also known as: zeta, uppercase zeta, big zeta, greek zeta, greek z.

Ζ is the capital form of the Greek letter zeta, visually identical to the Latin letter Z. Because of this resemblance it is almost never used as a distinct mathematical symbol. The lowercase ζ is well known from the Riemann zeta function of analytic number theory.

Also known as: lowercase zeta, small zeta, greek zeta, zeta greek letter, riemann zeta, zeta function, damping ratio.

The Greek letter ζ (zeta) is the sixth letter of the Greek alphabet. Its most prominent role is in the Riemann zeta function ζ(s), a central object of analytic number theory defined for Re(s) > 1 by an infinite series and extended to the rest of the complex plane by analytic continuation. It also appears as a general variable for coordinates, damping ratios in engineering, and small parameters in analysis.
